KGAL acquires wind farm in Rhineland-Palatinate
Grünwald/Munich, 24.10.2024 – KGAL Investment Management has acquired three wind turbines near Perscheid, Rhineland-Palatinate. The wind farm is the first investment in an individual mandate, in which KGAL is advising the Software AG Foundation (SAGST). The wind farm, which is currently under construction, has a total capacity of 17.1 megawatts (MW) and is scheduled to go into operation in spring 2025. The seller is BayWa r.e.
The three Nordex wind turbines, each with an output of 5.7 MW, are located 33 kilometres south of Koblenz in the Rhein-Hunsrück district. After the planned commissioning, the wind farm will generate around 48,000 MWh of green electricity per year, supplying around 16,000 households. The wind farm has secured attractive, predictable cash flows through a 20-year feed-in tariff.
“Germany is a very attractive location for onshore wind investments. Due to the stable legal framework, the robust wind resource and good feed-in tariffs, projects of this type offer interesting investment opportunities, which we are seizing on behalf of our investor,” says Konrad Lindner, Portfolio Manager at KGAL.
The wind farm is the first investment in an individual mandate with a volume in the hundreds of millions of euros awarded to KGAL by the Software AG Foundation (SAGST). The independent development foundation from Darmstadt has consistently focused its investments on sustainability, and plans to expand the proportion of direct investments in renewable energies. In doing so, SAGST relies on KGAL’s substantial experience in sustainable infrastructure.
