KGAL ESPF 5 makes new investment in wind in Northern Germany

The renewable energy fund KGAL ESPF 5 has made another acquisition. A 40 percent stake in the project development of five wind turbines in Bierbergen, Lower Saxony, was acquired by the fund from the established developer GP JOULE. The total capacity is 28 MW.

The Bierbergen wind farm, which is currently under construction, is located 30 kilometers southeast of Hanover. The five wind turbines from the manufacturer Vestas with a total capacity of 28 MW are to be completed by the first quarter of 2026. The project has 20 years of feed-in tariffs according to the German EEG.

“We were able to finalise the transaction with signing and closing within a few weeks and thus secure an exceptionally attractive opportunity for investors to further diversify the portfolio,” says Carsten Haubner, Portfolio Manager at KGAL. In line with its core-plus investment strategy, KGAL ESPF 5 has to date made 15 investments in six European countries.

KGAL received legal advice on the acquisition of the park from the European commercial law firm Fieldfisher and technical advice from Evergy Engineering.
