KGAL Aviation structures tailored aircraft financing

Aviation transaction management, climate protection and clichés about women in technical professions are all topics covered in the most recent Perspective on Aviation publication. In the latest issue, investment and asset manager KGAL provides an overview and relevant background information on these matters.

Climate protection was an important issue in the aviation industry last year, with the sector aiming for climate-neutral growth from 2020 onwards. KGAL has been working in the aircraft business for 40 years and is keen to make a contribution here. “We invest in modern aircraft types on behalf of our investors, and our aircraft funds are analysed by an independent provider to ensure compliance with ESG criteria,” explains Jochen Hörger, Managing Director of KGAL Investment Management GmbH & Co. KG. In taking this action, KGAL seeks to support the existing mobility needs of our global society in a responsible manner.

“The exception is the rule,” observes Christian Schloemann, head of Aviation Transaction Management at KGAL, about the KGAL approach. He and his colleagues support airlines through financing and by offering different leasing terms depending on capacity planning. The team’s strength lies in its technical competence and its expertise in how to structure financing.

When talking about women and technology, there are probably more clichés in circulation than facts: girls aren’t interested in technology, it’s difficult to be a woman in a male-dominated industry, and so on. Bettina Berger sets the record straight and shares her experience as an aeronautical engineer. Berger has been working for GOAL German Operating Aircraft Leasing GmbH & Co. KG for more than 10 years. Her verdict: “What is needed is to encourage young women to break stereotypes.”
